Casius Pealer is IMT’s Director of Market Development. He works with local organizations to develop and grow a national network of high-performance building hubs. The goal of these hubs is to accelerate a market shift toward measurable, equitable, and sustainable action to decarbonize buildings across the U.S.

Prior to joining IMT, Casius was the W. Henry Shane Professor of Practice in Real Estate at Tulane University, where he also served for ten years as Director of the Master of Sustainable Real Estate Development (MSRED) program. Casius remains a Senior Professor of Practice at Tulane, teaching an interdisciplinary course on Ethics in the Built Environment. Before moving home to New Orleans in 2010, Casius was Director of Affordable Housing at the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in Washington, DC, and practiced as a real estate attorney representing public agencies and specifically public housing authorities in large scale redevelopment projects. He is licensed to practice law in New York and Washington, DC.

Casius holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and an M.Arch from Tulane University’s School of Architecture. He is also an Associate Editor for the ABA’s Journal on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law, and a board member for Next City, a solutions-based journalism nonprofit with a mission to reimagine cities as liberated places of economic, environmental, and racial justice.
